Update October-November 2022

Charity Number 1151083

The Princes Centre is supporting the ‘National Children’s Pyjama Charity’ acting as a local collection point for Stoke Mandeville Hospital and we are accepting donations of new sets of pyjamas up to November 1st. The staff and people attending the Centre were invited to wear pyjamas and pay a £1 on designated dates which has raised funds to purchase pyjamas so that ‘children’ [young and old] have their own set of pyjamas to wear on Christmas Day. If you would like to donate a set, please bring them into the office.

The Princes Centre and Ashridge Home Care recently hosted a ‘Silver Sunday’ event here in support of the Silver Sunday National Charity, and to raise awareness of the two organisations. Tea and a lovely assortment of cakes were available and the participants enjoyed socialising with others instead of spending Sunday afternoon in their own company.

Our clients have enjoyed various activities which included making quiches with tomatoes grown in our garden, taking trips into town for shopping and a coffee break with our friendly and caring staff and chair zumba. They also made some lovely pictures to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II and there was much reminiscing about the past.

We will be holding a Quiz and Bingo Night at 6.30 pm on Saturday 29th October so if you would like to attend please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or phone Kim by 14th October. These are good fun and raise funds to give our clients the extras which enhance their time at the Centres. Tickets are £15 and include a two course meal. There will be great prizes to be won from local businesses. Please bring your own drinks and nibbles.

We have been waiting patiently for many months and have finally had the new curtains for our main hall delivered and hung. As the window area is so large the installation was quite a task but the result is very pleasing. We have plans eventually to make changes within the hall to make it more homely for the clients once more urgent issues have been dealt with. The lights in the Risborough Centre have now been replaced so that all are low energy use and the Bourne End Centre will soon have theirs changed too.

Unfortunately, the solar panel installation has been further delayed due to delivery problems outside the contractor’s control. Bucks Business First who awarded us £5,000 towards the solar panel project have advised that this will be increased to £6,750 but we are concerned about the continued delay and will be contacting other suppliers to see if they can offer a speedier installation.

If you would like to learn more about what we can offer to you or your loved one and book a free taster session, please contact Kim on 01844 345105 or Mags at Bourne End on 01628 527024.
