Update August 2025

12 August 2025

With the lovely weather we have recently had, there have been a number of walks to the local parks and visits to places of interest. Two groups visited the Holmer Green Sensory Garden and others visited the Bucks County Museum to see the Dr Who exhibition.

There was an outing to St Mary’s Church where the Jinglers, with the help of a number of our wonderful volunteers, performed an inspiring concert for the community during festival week. Staff brought other clients to watch. Sue, our longest serving member of staff, who has been responsible for the successful formation of the Jinglers choir and the concerts, will soon be leaving us and we are all grateful for all she has done and wish her well in the future. Be assured, the Jinglers concerts will continue.

Apart from some practice sessions for the Jinglers concert, there has been the usual variety of activities in the centre over the last few weeks. Clients enjoyed cooking sessions making casseroles and cakes, pottery, arts and craft sessions, sewing, flower arranging [courtesy of donation of flowers from Marks and Spencer’s], bell-ringing, motor skill games, ten pin bowling, musical activities, pampering sessions, and lots of different table games to name a few. The Hillbillies came and entertained one day and the clients enjoyed singing and dancing.

At our recent Annual General Meeting, one of our volunteers, Joy Stroud, was presented with the Peter Robinson Award for Voluntary Service and one of our clients told the audience of her very positive experience attending the Centre. The renovated path has been completed and work has started on fitting air conditioners in preparation for future heatwaves. We have now completed all the big projects for the time being, and are looking to find a suitable handyman for smaller jobs that crop up.
