Our Centres

Our Centres can provide a stimulating, interesting, safe place for our clients to come and socialise.

The space to relax and the facilities to pursue your interests

The Princes Centre is a pleasant modern environment and has a large social space at its heart where clients can dance, join sing-a-longs, play board games or Wii games on our large communal screen. The Centre also has a kitchen and restaurant where clients can interact with the kitchen staff or attend our baking classes!

It has an IT and Arts & Craft room for educational sessions and a popular Pottery room that promotes concentration and dexterity and has proven to be a great success with clients. Indeed many of the final pottery results are sold in the Centre or at the local market. The Centre also has its own minibus and car to transport clients to and from the Centre.

In summer there is a large outdoor area with tables, chairs and umbrellas so clients can enjoy a glass of sherry in the sunshine or even help nurture our vegetables in the garden greenhouse! Our main installations include:

  • Main Hall
  • Pottery room
  • IT and Craft room
  • Garden Area
*There is disabled access to both areas of the Centre, with disabled toilets on both levels.

The Princes Centre Building

In 2012, Bucks County Council announced they were closing 22 of their 27-day centres which they had been advised were in a poor state of repair or not fit for purpose, and instead were to centralise their day care services to a handful of large and impersonal “hubs”. As a result, the Risborough Cares Charity, along with the Princes Risborough Town Council, Churches Together and the Risborough Area Partnership came together with the sole objective of saving the Centre so that there would always be a friendly provision of day care locally.

The Princes Centre Appeal Fund was launched with a goal of raising £300,000 in order to purchase the building. With the hard unpaid work of the trustees, the fundraising committee and the enormous support from numerous local organisations and residents, within two years enough money had been raised. In the last 5 years, many substantial improvements have been made, including roof repairs, the installation of new windows, and a new central heating system and radiators throughout the building, so clients are always warm and comfortable.
