Update October 2024

10 October 2024

Despite the unpredictable weather our staff have been able to take groups of clients out to a number of venues. Some of the clients enjoyed a visit to Tring Museum; others visited the Horses Trust at Speen; another group went shopping in Marlow; the photography group went to Haddenham to take pictures of the church and pond and another group enjoyed a visit to Whipsnade Zoo. They do appreciate the chance to revisit places they used to enjoy or visit places that they are unable to reach under their own steam.

Indoors there have been plenty of varied activities. Elvis came and sang some songs for our clients and caused a lot of enthusiastic shouting for more. Others had a great time singing and dancing to the ‘Salty Cats’. There has been music sessions with lots of singing, plenty of craft activities, cooking sessions, ball games and bowls, golf, a cinema afternoon watching Guys and Dolls with popcorn and drinks, yoga, bingo, fine motor skill games, and the regular activities such as cardio drumming, pottery.

Our manager Kim organised a 4th Golden Years open day at High Wycombe Library recently which was a great success.

On site the roofers are still working on the flat roof which is taking a bit longer due to the weather. Some of the high windows in the main hall have been replaced and the rest will be completed once the roof work has finished. One of the freezers has been replaced and some repairs have been undertaken to one of the footpaths.

We are very grateful for a further legacy from the late Anne Stratton who was very supportive of our centre, and donations from a Charity Bowls Match, also from Friends of Bourne End [for use at our Bourne End Centre] and also from our regular supporters for which we are really appreciative. We have recently heard that St Mary’s Church have generously chosen to give us a grant towards funding some hydrotherapy sessions for some of the clients which are very benficial and also enjoyable.

If you would like to support the Princes Centres in any way or if you or your loved one would like a free taster of what we have to offer, please contact our manager Kim on 01844 345105 or Mags at Bourne End 01628 52702. Maggie Wooster Keyte.
