Despite the changeable weather our clients have enjoyed getting out and about. It is beneficial for those who have been housebound or unable to socialise for various reasons to have the opportunity to see what is going on around them and to feel part of their community. It’s also a pleasant way of encouraging mobilisation and aids communication skills when there is something different to talk about. There have been visits to cafes and walks etc. Some clients went to Haddenham Garden Centre to see the Halloween decorations. Others went out to celebrate a birthday with a special lunch at Morrisons. Another group went to Bradmoor Farm and played darts and had a cup of tea there.
There has been plenty going on indoors at the Centre too. Clients have enjoyed making Halloween decorations and the younger ones enjoyed a Halloween party. The cooking sessions have resulted in delicious chicken casseroles and vegetables, pizzas, and cakes which the clients take home and enjoy. Some like to do art and one client had her work displayed in the Wades ‘Art in the Park’ this year. Pottery is a firm favourite with some wonderful work produced. Cardio drumming, hoop games, carpet bowls and other physical games take place alongside the more relaxing quizzes, table games and bingo. The popular Hillbillies and the Black Dog Band came and entertained.
The electrician has been to install the new electric cooker and has fitted a Defibrillator on the wall outside the main entrance. The work on the roof of the main hall has been completed and the remainder of the high windows have been installed. The solar panel batteries have all been installed and are up and running which means we can save some of the electricity generated by the solar panels.
