As well as celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee we shall be celebrating our 10th Anniversary on Wednesday 1st June with entertainment on the day.
We will be joined by our Bourne End clients. We have received the exciting news that we are finalists in two categories of the 2022 SME Business Awards. One is ‘Community Business of the Year’ and the other is ‘Lockdown Leader’ [Matthew Walsh, our chairman]. We eagerly await the final decision at the end of the month.
The clients have been busy making decorations for the Jubilee Party, helping in the garden with the vegetable beds, watering and planting sunflower seeds, baking - making biscuits, pancakes and scones, and enjoying a hand bell session and singing and dancing sessions. Others have regular knit and natter sessions or enjoy playing golf. Art and crafts continues, pottery, including the creation of a Decoupage Horse. The library group helped at the library decorating jubilee flags. Entertainment has also been provided and all other games and activities continue. One of the clients at Bourne End has been crocheting for over a year and produced an amazing amount of work which earned her nearly 300 positive comments on Facebook.
Following the success of interaction between toddlers and the elderly at Bourne End, children from the Princes Risborough Nursery will be making regular visits to the Centre to meet the clients.
With the arrival of warmer weather the gardens have required attention. At the Risborough Centre Red Kite volunteers have been tidying the front garden area. The Rotary Club have made a lovely job at the Bourne End Centre clearing away a lot of trees and bushes and enlarging the area for the use of the clients.
A number of donations have been received for which we are very grateful as they enable us to further enhance the clients’ experience at the centres. Following the large donation from Whiteleaf golf club we have bought a new sofa for upstairs and one for downstairs and the Bourne End Centre will be spending the equivalent on sprucing up the front of their building and adding hanging baskets.
The solar panel project is scheduled to be completed in September. We have our electrician hoping to visit soon to put in a sensor light by the front door, instead of leaving the light on all night and the drainage problems are due to be remedied.
If you are interested in what the Princes Centre can offer to you or your loved ones please ring our manager Kim on 01844 345105. Free taster sessions are available.
