The clients at our two centres have been enjoying their time participating in the large assortment of activities we offer. There was fun around St Patrick’s Day and Red Nose Day with some amazing leprechauns and red noses.
There have been musical activities, artwork, table games, pottery and much more to keep our clients happily occupied. We had a very interesting show-and-tell week when clients and staff brought in something personal to them, to show and talk about. Due to the bad weather recently, the bowls group were not able to go to the bowling green but enjoyed an indoor bowling session instead.
Visitors from the Dementia Support Cafe and Social Services were very impressed with the centres and one said that she couldn’t believe the atmosphere she felt here and could quite easily spend the whole day with us.
We have some lovely volunteers at both Centres who assist the staff and clients with activities during the day and who are very valuable members of our team. If you know someone who would like to join us and can spare a few hours a day, please encourage them to call either Kim in Princes Risborough or Mags at Bourne End. We are developing a newsletter to send to our volunteers each week so they too can keep abreast of all our activities and we will also offer training if this is something they want or require.
The Bourne End Centre will be having solar panels fitted in June and the Risborough Centre will be having a battery to store the output of their solar panels installed at around the same time. The panels have been very useful producing 904.25 kWh during March which wasn’t a particularly sunny month making a valuable contribution when compared with the usage in March last year.
The main hall has been transformed with the recent installation of the new cupboards and the finishing touches which have been added are really lovely. After the fitting of the units we had a couple of units left over from upstairs, so we plan to purchase some more for downstairs.
We would like to acknowledge, with thanks, a recent donation from Longwick Women’s Institute and for all those generous people who regularly donate.
If you or your loved one would like a free taster of what we have to offer or would like to consider volunteering at the Princes Centre, please contact our manager Kim on 01844 345105 or Mags at Bourne End 01628 527024.
