Update May 2023

Charity Number 1151083

It is with great sadness we announce the death of our beloved Patron, Peter Cullimore MBE. He passed away peacefully at home on 10th April.   He was an incredible man, both generous and kind, and he gave a huge amount to his local community in Buckinghamshire. As well as being a highly successful businessman and private philanthropist, one of his great many charitable acts included supporting The Princes Centre and he was a great Ambassador for us. He will be very much missed.

On a happier note we are proud to congratulate one of our trustees, the Rev David Williams, who recently received a Civic Award for ‘Citizen of the Year’ from the Princes Risborough Town Council in recognition for his exemplary service for the benefit of the community in the parish.

The Trustees and managers recently had an extremely productive day looking at the whole organisation, agreeing some projects for both centres in the next financial year, evaluating transport arrangements for the clients and discussing ways to proceed with regard to future growth.

Our clients have been happily involved with lots of activities this last month. With the improvement in the weather various groups have been planting vegetables in the garden, picking litter in the community, enjoying a picnic, as well as the regular bowling and local walks.

Indoor activities include forming a belly dancing group [a fun way of exercising], step dancing, quizzes, playing darts and indoor golf, table games, and craft work, singalongs etc.

We recently received a generous donation from the King Cullimore Trust which will part fund the cost of Solar Panels being fitted over at Bourne End. Also our local Rotary Club, who have been so supportive to us over the years, have given a further donation to enable us to purchase some more cupboard units and have them fitted in the lower hall. The King Cullimore Trust also donated a lovely amount for our building projects that we wish to undertake. Our sincere thanks go to all the organisations that support us.

We recently had a visit from representatives of Connection Support. If you haven’t heard of them, their mission is to help a person to live independently by offering support to anyone who finds themselves in a challenging situation, either directly or helping them to find the right support elsewhere. They have volunteers who are able to assist with a range of situations which are enlarged on their web site. They expressed their pleasure in recommending our centres to some of their clients.

If you or your loved one would like a free taster of what we have to offer or would like to consider volunteering at the Princes Centre, please contact our manager Kim on 01844 345105 or Mags at Bourne End 01628 527024.
