With St Valentine’s Day behind us and Spring on the way, our clients have had plenty of activities both in the centre and outside to enhance their lives. Indoors we have had Callum, a local professional dancer who danced in the film Barbie, to chat about his role in the show and teach our clients a few dance steps. A project called ‘These Hands’ gave some clients an opportunity to make a special memento for their relatives, which they really appreciated. Other activities have been making bird feeders for the garden, the parachute game, chess, cooking, step by step paintingwith straws, cotton buds and brushes, flower arranging [curtesy of Marks and Spencer’s donation of flowers] enjoying a visit from a Hearing Dogs volunteer with a very friendly dog called Daisy who gave everyone a lot of pleasure, as well as many of the usual activities.

External activities included a visit to RAF Air Command for a small group, and the feedback from one client was that the whole experience was amazing and very worth while. Other visits were made to Maidenhead Aquatics to see the fish, visiting a local café, a visit for a game of darts and refreshments at Bradmoor Farm Café, a trip to Haddenham Garden Centre, and another to Thame Museum.
Now the Town Council, who have been extremely supportive to the Princes Centre, especially in our early days, have moved out to their larger accommodation in Wades Park, work is progressing to refurbish the new office area. Once it has been completed there will be more elbow room for the office staff and a room for meetings and training sessions. Unfortunately, we have uncovered some damp problems which are in the process of being rectified. We also have a problem with a leak in the roof in the downstairs area which we hope to get sorted as soon as possible. With a building about 70 years old this is probably inevitable.
