Update February 2025

The weather may be miserable at times but a very positive atmosphere exists in the Princes Centre. There haven’t been many recent trips this last month but members of staff took some clients in their own time to the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury to watch Calamity Jane. It was very enjoyable for the clients who would not have been able to go there themselves. The gardening group visited a local garden centre and were very impressed with the flowers there. Whilst there, one of the clients was able to visit a shop, where he used to help out, which was an emotional experience for him. Lots of trips are planned for the future.

Indoors we have had karaoke sessions, artwork, lots of games, cornhole, darts, cardio drumming, pampering sessions, cooking sessions, craft work, playing games on the Tiny Tablet and a wonderful ‘Pet Therapy’ session where clients were able to stroke or touch various animals including a rabbit, guinea pig, rat, chicken, bearded dragon, snake, tortoise and a lovely little dog. The staff have organised a new programme of activities which gives clients a choice of group activities and have purchased some more equipment to enhance the activities. Group activities include learning about Current Affairs, Guest speaker’s trips, the Local Community, Nature [bird-watching, visiting pet zoo, Tring Museum, Tring Zoo, and Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital], Transport, Gardening, Story writing, Music, Cooking, Pampering sessions etc.

Work has commenced on the downstairs roof. It will take several weeks to complete. The fascias and soffits have all been completed. We had a surprise visit from an Environmental Health Office who said our kitchen was the cleanest they had ever seen. We have our wonderful cook to thank for that. We have a few other minor jobs to complete which are all in hand.

If you would like to support the Princes Centres in any way or if you or your loved one would like a free taster of what we have to offer, please contact Mags on 01844 345105 or Marina at Bourne End on 01628 527024,
