The Princes Centre has a small team of (currently 8) Trustees who are responsible for making sure it’s doing what it was set up to do, for leading the charity and deciding how it is run. They bring a wide mix of skills and expertise to the organisation and have been instrumental in developing the charity to its present highly regarded and successful position as a provider of social day care services.
The Princes Centre is a charitable company and the Board of Trustees also act as the directors of the company. The Princes Centre’s purpose is to relieve the needs of the elderly and people with physical disabilities, learning disabilities or mental health issues, and their families and carers. So, being a trustee means making decisions that have a direct impact on the lives of people in our community.
Trustees of all charities have 6 main duties:
Our Trustees meet formally as a Board at monthly intervals and are also involved from time to time in giving direct assistance to the small central management team. Once elected onto the Board they serve for a five year term, with the option to serve for further terms should they wish. Although their work is unremunerated, they can be reimbursed for any expenses arising from their work for the charity.
If you are looking for a challenging and rewarding voluntary role, you can contact either the Chairman of Trustees, or the Centre Manager, Kim Challinor for an initial discussion. This would be followed by a visit to one of our Centres to see the charity in action. Finally, if you are still interested, there would be a meeting with a small group of Trustees to explore in more detail how your knowledge and experience could benefit the Princes Centre and the work of the Trustees.
