Our Centres can provide a stimulating, interesting, safe place for our clients to come and socialise.
The Princes Centre is a pleasant modern environment and has a large social space at its heart where clients can dance, join sing-a-longs, play board games or Wii games on our large communal screen. The Centre also has a kitchen and restaurant where clients can interact with the kitchen staff or attend our baking classes!
It has an IT and Arts & Craft room for educational sessions and a popular Pottery room that promotes concentration and dexterity and has proven to be a great success with clients. Indeed many of the final pottery results are sold in the Centre or at the local market. The Centre also has its own minibus and car to transport clients to and from the Centre.
In summer there is a large outdoor area with tables, chairs and umbrellas so clients can enjoy a glass of sherry in the sunshine or even help nurture our vegetables in the garden greenhouse! Our main installations include:
In 2012, Bucks County Council announced they were closing 22 of their 27-day centres which they had been advised were in a poor state of repair or not fit for purpose, and instead were to centralise their day care services to a handful of large and impersonal “hubs”. As a result, the Risborough Cares Charity, along with the Princes Risborough Town Council, Churches Together and the Risborough Area Partnership came together with the sole objective of saving the Centre so that there would always be a friendly provision of day care locally.
